- NEW CAR NEWS – JAGUAR F-TYPE COUPE
AN extra special delivery is in store for The Special One in the shape of cool cat the Jaguar F-TYPE Coupe.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will be the first customer in the UK to receive Jaguar’s snarling new sports car when deliveries begin in late March.
The Portuguese coach – self styled as The Special One – is Jaguar’s latest ambassador and will join the F-TYPE’s design director Ian Callum at the car’s official launch at Canary Wharf, London, tomorrow.
The coupe, which follows the convertible version launched last year, is billed as the most dynamically capable, performance-focused production Jaguar ever and is headlined by the F-TYPE R Coupe.
Complete with a 550PS 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine, this flagship model can scorch from 0-60mph in 4.0-seconds and on to a limited top speed of 186mph.
F-TYPE S Coupe and F-TYPE Coupe variants complete the range, powered by 380PS and 340PS versions of Jaguar’s 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine.
Acceleration figures are 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds for the S and 5.1 for the lower powered car, along with top speeds of 171/161mph.
With its all-aluminium construction, the coupe is also the most torsionally rigid production Jaguar ever and all engines drive the rear wheels through an eight-speed Quickshift transmission with manual sequential control via steering wheel-mounted paddles or the central SportShift lever.
There’s also up to 407-litres of boot space – capable of accommodating two sets of golf clubs – and the tailgate is available with power-assisted opening.
The car’s UK debut will also see an exclusive screening of the new Jaguar ‘Rendezvous’ advert, the latest in Jaguar’s ‘British Villains’ campaign and starring Sir Ben Kingsley.
Shown initially during Super Bowl XLVIII, it has now received more than 11 million views online and will reach British TV screens in April.
Jaguar Land Rover UK Managing Director Jeremy Hicks said: “I am really excited to be officially presenting the new F-TYPE Coupe in the UK for the first time. This sports car is as important to the Jaguar brand as it is spectacular to drive.
“Jaguar is a brand with great momentum, launching many exciting new products. We are developing a new advanced aluminum architecture that will be the basis of a range of highly efficient, yet high performance sports and luxury Jaguar cars in future.
“We now employ more than 26,000 people in the UK across Jaguar Land Rover. These are all positive signs for our business, our people and our customers.”
