Nissan GT-R Nismo revs up for debut

  • NEW CAR NEWS  NISSAN GT-R NISMO

NISSAN’S supersonic rocket ship the GT-R Nismo is set to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

This ultimate version of the Japanese brand’s fiery coupe has been developed by Nissan’s Nismo global racing team as a race-oriented model delivering factory-tuned supercar dynamics.

Its 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine produces a massive 600bhp and with advanced aerodynamics generating a wallop of extra downforce for exceptional road-holding, there’s the potential for 186mph.

Extensively tested in Europe, notably at Germany’s Nurburgring race circuit, the Nismo boasts various motorsports-inspired technologies to enhance its performance.

Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn said: “This is the fastest Nissan GT-R ever. With a 7:08.679 lap time, we can authoritatively say that it holds the volume production car lap record at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, which is the gold standard of high performance achievement.”

The Nismo will be available in five body colours – Brilliant White Pearl, Meteor Flake Pearl Black, Ultimate Metallic Silver and Vibrant Red and, unique to the model, a Dark Matte Grey for a more muscle car look.

And the Nismo’s black six-spoke wheels are inspired by Nissan’s GT-R race car which races in the GT500 class in SUPER GT.

Sales start in September.
