Fab 4×4 writes its autobiography

THE Fab 4×4 may not yet be a Paperback Writer, but the Liverpool-built baby Range Rover is certainly penning a new chapter.

It comes in the form of a lavish Autobiography trim grade being added to the Range Rover Evoque for the first time – in a model that also packs a whole lot more punch.

The Evoque Autobiography Dynamic version sees the model’s 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine upgraded to 285PS – a hefty 45PS increase.

And Land Rover says its nine-speed ZF transmission now responds even more keenly to sportier driver inputs, including when left in Drive mode.

Active driveline, an option on all Range Rover Evoque derivatives, comes as standard kit on the Autobiography Dynamic.

As one of the world’s first four-wheel-drive systems of its kind, it boosts traction, enhances agility and improves fuel efficiency by seamlessly engaging four-wheel drive automatically when required.

The Evoque Autobiography Dynamic also features an upgraded suspension and upgraded 350mm front brake discs while Torque Vectoring by Braking, which helps reduce understeer, is standard equipment.

Land Rover is also introducing a world first called InControl, enabling smartphone apps to be displayed and controlled with their original look and feel from the vehicle’s touchscreen.

As for design, the Autobiography Dynamic gets a new grille design, lower front valance, jewel-like headlights and tail lamps and 20-inch forged alloy wheels.

There’s also Autobiography badging on the tailgate and front wing vents plus a new metallic body colour called phoenix orange debuts across the Dynamic Evoque derivatives.

Inside, there’s leather-clad luxury in a selection of six colours, either sports or premium climate seats and the headrests feature an Autobiography embossed logo.

Since its launch in 2011, the Liverpool-built Range Rover Evoque has won 157 international awards and has sold more than 270,000 worldwide, making it the fastest-selling Land Rover of all time.
