FORD has lifted the wraps on a new red hot version of its Fiesta ST sports hatchback.

It’s the new Fiesta ST200, delivering 10 per cent more power and 20 per cent extra torque, with 200PS and 290Nm from a specially calibrated 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.

The most powerful production Fiesta ever, the Fiesta ST200 will sprint from 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds and feature an exclusive spec including a unique Storm Grey exterior and machined matt black 17-inch alloy wheels. Top speed is 143mph.

ST200 models will also feature red painted brake callipers and a smarter cabin with partial leather Charcoal Recaro front seats and contrasting silver stitching, alongside illuminated scuff plates and seatbelts with silver detailing.

Ford is also showcasing the latest version of its popular SUV the Kuga at this week’s Geneva Motor Show, complete with the company’s new SYNC 3 connectivity system upgraded to recognise voice commands like ‘I want a coffee’.

It is also now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

New beneath the bonnet is the 1.5-litre diesel engine used in the Ford Focus but boosted to 120PS yet economical to the point to being able to return 64.2mpg with emissions of 115g/km.

The range also includes 2.0-litre diesels with 150 and 180PS outputs – both used in 4×4 Kuga variants – as well as the 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.

Regards safety, the Kuga now gets a cross traffic alert system in addition to the city safety anti-collision device which will now operates at up to 31mph rather than the last model’s 19mph.

Ford has also revealed new upmarket Vignale versions of several models, including the new Ford Edge Vignale – the company’s first entry into the upmarket SUV arena in the UK – and the new S-MAX Vignale, prices for both of which will be announced later this year.

And revealed for the first time is the Ford Mondeo Vignale five-door model that will go on sale in 2017, and a concept version of a forthcoming Ford Kuga Vignale.
