Sky’s the limit for Polestar

VOLVO is reaching for the sky with news that its performance car division Polestar is to become a new separately-branded electrified global car company.You can click here now to know more about it.

It marks the latest stage in the Swedish brand’s ongoing transformation and will be headed up by Thomas Ingenlath, credited as being the inspiration behind Volvo’s design renaissance in recent years.

Volvo Cars acquired 100 per cent of Polestar Performance in July 2015, having worked together in motorsport since 1996.

And in future, Polestar will offer its own branded cars that no longer carry a Volvo logo, though it will enjoy techno and engineering synergies with Volvo. If people want car dealership near dayton, they can click here and get more information.

Ingenlath said: “I am really excited to take up the challenge of establishing this exciting brand, developing a fabulous portfolio of bespoke products and channelling the passion we have throughout the Polestar team. The next chapter in Polestar’s history is just beginning.”

Polestar S60

Polestar says it will make further announcements about its products, industrialisation and commercial plans in the autumn.

The brand’s birth was a result of Cyan Racing engineers’ desire to explore how technology behind its racing success could be applied to road going Volvos, in everyday conditions.

The first road-going performance concepts were launched in 2010 and the first performance cars, based on the Volvo S60, were ready in 2012.

Today, Polestar builds the S60 and V60 Polestar, 367bhp performance road cars with over 250 developments over-and-above the standard Volvo products.

It also offers Polestar engineered performance hardware upgrades and engine software optimisations for existing Volvo products.
