Scorpion sting – Abarth’s new double act

  • by Mike Torpey
  • September 2, 2020

Abarth 595 Monster Energy Yamaha

THE sign of the scorpion has lifted the wraps on two special series models that look sure to spark a scramble among enthusiasts.

The exclusive Abarth 595 Scorpioneoro and the adrenaline-packed Abarth 595 Monster Energy Yamaha will showcase two of the Fiat-owned brand’s core values  – heritage and fun.

The 595 Scorpioneoro will cost £22,345 and is a limited edition of just 2,000 models globally that pays homage to the exclusive A112 Abarth ‘Gold Ring’ produced in 1979 featuring a black livery with gold details.

The second special edition, the 595 Monster Energy Yamaha model, celebrates Abarth’s five-year partnership with Yamaha, is rooted in performance, racing, and technology, and costs £21,590.

Abarth 595 Scorpioneoro

The Scorpioneoro features a 1.4-litre T-jet petrol engine delivering 165bhp and can accelerate from 0-62 in 7.3 seconds.

From the outside it is recognisable by its black scorpion livery and the matt black chessboard roof while there are also gold details like a scorpion on the bonnet and hubcap plus 17-inch gold alloy wheels.

Buyers also get a unique cabin with the likes of leather sports seats with Scorpioneoro lettering alongside the Italian flag, Abarth embroidery and a 480-watt Beats sound system.

Also being made available is a limited-edition chronograph watch created by Breil, dedicated to the 595 Scorpioneoro series and which includes an incision of the golden Scorpion logo.

Meanwhile, the Abarth 595 Monster Energy Yamaha is limited to 2,000 cars and inspired by the livery of the 2020 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s YZR-M1.

The special edition’s exterior features a dual colour blue and black livery finished off with the Monster claw on the bonnet, a sign of the new collaboration between the Scorpion and the popular energy drink.

It comes with the same engine and performance figures as its stablemate and comes with a flat-bottomed steering wheel and  Record Monza exhaust with active valve.

Also as standard is Koni rear suspension, with Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology to increase road holding, handling and stability, plus a dedicated splash screen displaying the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP logo on the screen at start-up.
