  • NEW CAR NEWS – FORD MUSTANG

FORD will have a mammoth worldwide audience for the European arrival of its iconic Mustang later this month.

In Europe alone there will be 70 million football fans, plus another 165 million around the world, watching the UEFA Champions League final derby match between Madrid giants Real and Atletico on May 24.

And it will mark a moment for which Mustang fans in the UK have been waiting a considerable time.

That’s because Ford has announced that the first 500 new Mustang models for Europe will be made available to reserve from the start of the game.

The new Mustang will be the first ever to be officially made available in the UK in right-hand drive when it goes on sale next year.

Ford has been an official Champions League partner since 1992 and this year’s final, in Lisbon, marks the brand’s swansong.

And they and can be equipped with an all-new 2.3-litre EcoBoost that has a projected output of more than 309PS or the 5.0 litre V8 engine with 426PS.

They will also offer Ford’s SYNC 2 connectivity and navigation system, heated and ventilated seats, Park Assist, black leather trim, chrome details and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Ford vice president Roelant de Waard said: “The arrival of the new Ford Mustang in Europe is an event that deserves the biggest possible stage.

“We hope that making the first models available to order from the start of the final will ensure a reach which matches the significance.”

During the match Mustang fans will have the chance to register their details for a chance to buy one of the 500 models that will include a special package and a limited-edition certificate.
