  • January 5, 2016

Jaguar has lifted the wraps on a British Design Edition of its award-winning F-TYPE sports car.

And the exclusive model will feature special colours inspired by the Union Jack in the shades of Caldera Red, Glacier White and – new to the F-TYPE range – Ultra Blue. There’s also an Ultimate Black option.

Cars will be up for grabs as either a coupe or convertible and also boast a Sport Design pack plus discreet British Design Edition badges and branding on the centre console, headrests and tread plates.

Optional on the S model, the Sport Design Pack is standard equipment on the British Design Edition and comprises a gloss black front splitter, body-coloured side sill extensions and rear venturi while a fixed rear spoiler is also available for the coupe.

Inside, the F-TYPE has premium Jet leather upholstery finished with contrast stitching in a choice of three colours, along with carbon fibre trim around the centre console.

Power comes exclusively from brand’s 380PS supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, matched to an eight-speed Quickshift transmission and all-wheel drive.

The standard spec of the newcomer also includes upgraded audio compared to the F-TYPE S, equipping vehicles with the InControl Touch infotainment system with a 380W 10-speaker Meridian system.

JagFtypeBDE3newBoth InControl Touch and InControl Touch Plus support the car’s InControl Apps and InControl Remote features, though the latter app is now available for the Apple Watch.

It means Apple Watch owners will be able to lock and unlock the vehicle, check fuel levels and find it on a map.

It’s also possible to set the climate control and start the engine to bring the cabin to the desired temperature before a journey begins.

Jaguar design director Ian Callum said: “The F-TYPE is a sports car that excites the senses with a visual drama that is both individual and very British.

“Creating the British Design Edition gave us the opportunity to subtly enhance the way the F-TYPE looks – inside and out.”

Customer deliveries begin this spring and prices are from £75,225 for the coupe and £80,390 for the convertible – around £9,000 more than the standard S models.
