The famous words were originally uttered by first man on the moon Neil Armstrong, now another American icon will be hoping that ‘the eagle has landed’.

Tough 4×4 brand Jeep has just revealed a new special edition version of its popular Cherokee off-roader, called the Night Eagle.

Limited to just 350 vehicles in the UK, the variant will cost £36,795 and is based on the Longitude ‘Plus’ mid-trim level.

Bold style is guaranteed with the Night Eagle, with its black styling cues, satin-finished grey elements on the front grille-mounted Jeep badge, the fog light frames, black gloss roof bars, 18-inch black gloss alloy wheels and deep tint sunscreen glass.

Inside, there’s a leather steering wheel, exclusive leather upholstery, heated front seats with electric lumbar adjustment on the driver’s seat, Uconnect with 8.4-inch screen and navigation system, and TFT instrument panel .

Other standard kit includes a nine-speaker sound system, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, electric tailgate, rear parking sensors, automatic headlamps with washer, rain sensing wipers, and power folding mirrors.

JeepNeagle2NEWFour colours – Brilliant Black, Bright White, Billet Silver and Granite Crystal – are up for grabs and power comes via the new 2.2-litre MultiJet II turbo diesel engine delivering 200bhp.

Combined with a nine-speed auto transmission and Active Drive I 4×4 system, it gives the car a top speed of 127 mph and 0-62 mph acceleration in 8.5 seconds.

Yet the Cherokee Night Eagle can still return 49.6 mpg fuel economy on the combined cycle.

Jeep’s UK chief Damien Dally said: “Full of style, loaded with equipment and designed to enhance Cherokee’s already strong appeal, the new Night Eagle version is particularly exclusive.

“With its rugged, sporting looks and excellent off-road capabilities, this limited edition newcomer will, I am sure, appeal to a whole new group of Jeep customers.”
