Price is right for Renault Kadjar

  • by Mike Torpey
  • June 4, 2015

The new Renault Kadjar family-size crossover model will cost from £17,995 when it hits UK streets in September.

The model, a big brother for the successful Renault Captur, was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March and enters an arena populated by some serious contenders like the Nissan Qashqai.

Kadjar will be up for grabs in an 18-version line-up of 4×2 and four-wheel drive models based on four familiar trim lines – Expression+, Dynamique Nav, Dynamique S Nav and Signature Nav.

All provide a comprehensive standard spec and connectivity via the French company’s R-Link 2 multimedia system is fitted to all cars above entry grade.

Standard safety features include ABS, traction and understeer control, cruise control, speed limiter, Hill Start Assist, six airbags, seat belts with load limiters and pretensioners at the front, side impact protection bars and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points on the two outer rear seats.

And Renault says Kadjar will feature gravel, dust and rain protection kits, while for comfort and convenience there is an accessory power point, a 12-volt front socket, trip computer, two-way adjustable steering column and an exterior temperature indicator.

Three engines on offer are a 1.2-litre turbocharged TCe 130bhp direct-injection petrol unit, a 1.5-litre ENERGY dCi 110bhp diesel and the 1.6-litre ENERGY dCi 130bhp diesel.

An Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic gearbox is available with the dCi 110 engine while intelligent four-wheel drive with three operating modes – Auto, LOCK and 2WD –is offered with the dCi 130 in the three upper trim levels.

The three engines, two gearboxes and two drive systems offer fuel economy of up to 74.3mpg, with CO2 emissions as low as 99g/km.

Two different boot configurations mean owners can choose between a high position with a completely flat floor for loading large items, or a low position to provide the maximum carrying capacity.

Head and elbow room in the rear is claimed to be among the best in class while there is also 30 litres of stowage space in the cabin.

And with its Flame Red launch colour, the company believes the Kadjar will prove a compelling proposition to customers.

Prices are from £17,995 for the Kadjar Expression + TCe 130 model rising to £26,295 for the Kadjar Signature Nav dCi 130 4WD variant.
