Ton-up treat for Mazda fans

Mazda MX-5 Convertible 100th Anniversary special edition

LIMITED edition versions of all Mazda’s key passenger cars have arrived in the UK to celebrate the Japanese manufacturer’s centenary.

Called the 100th Anniversary Special Edition series, the models adopt a white and burgundy two-tone exterior/interior combination, inspired by high-grade versions of the brand’s first passenger car – the R360 Coupe.

With Snowflake White pearlescent exterior paint contrasted with burgundy interior carpet and burgundy leather seats, the special editions also feature bespoke touches like a 100th Anniversary badge on the floormats, key fob and embossed into the headrests.

And in the case of the 100th Anniversary MX-5 Convertible, there’s a Dark Cherry fabric roof.

Sure to be popular with British sports car fans, all 100 examples of the £29,995 MX-5 Convertible are powered by a 184bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine.

Even more rare, just five examples of the £20,995 Mazda2 and £33,995 Mazda6 100th Anniversary will arrive later in the autumn, while five examples of the 100th Anniversary Mazda CX-5 will be here by the end of the year.

Two more models, the £29,995 Mazda3 and £31,695 100th Anniversary Mazda CX-30, will be limited to 100 examples each.

Mazda MX-30 EV

Meanwhile, Mazda’s first battery electric vehicle, the MX-30 EV, will arrive in the UK next March with a price tag of £25,545.

Limited to 500 examples here, the First Edition variant is available to pre-order now at a cost of £27,495.

The crossover EV features an AC synchronous electric motor and 35.5kWh lithium-ion battery that Mazda says will deliver a range of approximately 124miles and comes with AC charging up to 6.6kW and DC rapid charging.

Standard kit on all UK MX-30s includes LED headlights with daytime running lights, reversing camera, radar cruise control with Intelligent Speed Assist, navigation and head-up display.

Each MX-30 comes as standard with a Type 2 AC charging cable and a socket for 50kW rapid charging, which can in 36 minutes deliver up to 80 per cent battery charge.

Four trim grades – SE-L Lux, Sport Lux, GT Sport Tech and First Edition – will be up for grabs.
