Pageant powers up for World Cup

  • by Mike Torpey
  • June 4, 2014
WORLD CUP fever is set to raise a fresh roar at this year’s Cholmondeley Pageant of Power – as England take on Italy on the festival’s second night.
And to celebrate the big match, the pageant – on the Cholmondeley estate in Cheshire – will be showing all the action on a big screen from 10:30pm following the classical concert and fireworks display.
Visitors to this year’s three-day event (June 13-15) can enjoy action-packed displays on track, in the air and on the water, before getting behind England in the evening.
The musicians will get both petrol heads and footie fans in patriotic mood with flag-waving performances from the likes of Aled Jones, Laura Wright and the National Symphony Orchestra, before the fireworks above Cholmondeley Castle start the World Cup party.
CPOP.jpgWith fans’ favuorites Status Quo and superbike world champion turned rocker James Toseland playing the night before, the annual event is set for a weekend of soccer, sounds and serious speed.
Event director James Hall said: “This year’s Italian theme at the pageant will celebrate Italy’s extensive and prestigious motoring heritage, but when it comes to Saturday night we’ll be firmly supporting England.
“Football on the big screen will provide even more entertainment at this year’s Pageant, and will give our festival-goers the ultimate experience as they join in with the rest of the country in supporting England’s World Cup campaign.”
For tickets go to www.cpop.co.uk Gates open at the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power at 8am every day and a Saturday ticket including concerts costs £49.
